In the bebinning
The USU project was initially inspired by another educational free software project – Learn Free (Bulgarian: “Учи Свободен”). The ideas set out therein are adopted and further developed in an effort to offer complete operating system with carefully selected useful applications for use in education and everyday needs.
About the name
The initial name of the project was “Learn Free with Ubuntu” (Bulgarian: Учи Свободен с Убунту). This name was a symbol of the connection with Ubuntu Linux.
At some point, we decided to use the name USU (Bulgarian: УСУ) – for short, and to avoid confusion with the “Learn Free” project.
And thus, the official name is USU – not as abbreviation, but as a name.
